Leeward Oahu at a Glance

While the Leeward Coast of Oahu is only around 25 miles away from the Honolulu epicenter of the island, the contrasting differences of these two areas could not be any more apparent than they are. While Honolulu and many other parts of the island are commercialized, the Leeward Coast remains wild and full of natural Hawaiian heritage. Located on the coastal side of the amazing Waianae Mountain Range, the Leeward part of the island is the most undiscovered area of Oahu.

The Leeward side of the island is made up of Waipahu (somewhat central), Ewa Beach, Nanakuli, Waianae and Makaha. Perhaps the most well-known city on the Leeward side of Oahu is Kapolei, also referred to as “the second city.” Kapolei is a bustling city that only continues to grow bigger. Many have even dubbed it the “Honolulu of the west side,” as development and expansion continues at a rapid pace. There are also other little pockets and suburbs hidden around that help make up the population.
